CapellaBay's Market Garden Open Day

15/02/2023

We are proud to announce the opening of CapellaBay’s Market Garden, a unique space that provides a sense of purpose and community for residents. With soon-to-be flourishing vegetable and herb gardens that residents can help tend to, and peaceful spaces where residents can relax and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, it is a pleasant new addition to the home.

Our Chef will have access to the variety of fresh produce from the gardens, adding a special touch to the dining experience at CapellaBay. Facility Manager, Scott Bailey comments “I feel our residents will experience much enjoyment from helping grow our own fresh herbs and vegetables, and contribute to new recipe ideas that showcase our produce. I believe all aged care homes should try adding a veggie garden, even if it’s just something small, everyone knows food tastes better when it’s homegrown.”

Our official open day was held on Thursday 9 February, with our Regional Operations Manager, Fiona Charleston joining us to celebrate and do the honours of cutting the red ribbon alongside Scott.

We are pleased to offer residents a place where they can come together and share their love of gardening, or to just sit and absorb nature. It is also the perfect outdoor space to enjoy a coffee with loved ones. Sales Manager, Sally Clark said “The gardens and bright umbrellas are already a social hub of our home and popular area for residents and families to enjoy – it’s lovely to see our residents socialising together in this space.”

The Market Garden is already proving to be a valuable addition to CapellaBay, from providing fresh produce, to promoting physical and social wellbeing, it is one of the many ways we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for residents.
